Navi Mumbai: A case of attempted murder has been registered by the Koparkhairane police against four men for seriously injuring a 23-year-old man. The incident took place on Tuesday night in sector 1 of Koparkhairane.

One person was injured in the attack and is currently being treated in hospital. Following the incident, the Koparkhairane police registered a case of attempted murder against the four attackers and started searching for them.

The injured person identified as Ajit Dhonde and the accused, a man known as “Macchi’s younger brother”, who attacked him, are both residents of Koparkhairane. They run a business supplying drinking water cans in the area. There had been a dispute between them for the past few days about the supply of water boxes.

On the night of December 10, around 10:15 pm, Dhonde was sitting with his friends Rohit Ghorpade and Dinesh More near Bank of Allahabad in Koparkhairane Sector-1, when Macchi’s younger brother along with two or three other associates they attacked with a chopper. Dhonde raised his right hand, causing an injury to his forearm. Dhonde and his friends tried to escape to save themselves, but the attackers chased them.

Macchi’s younger brother threatened to kill Dhonde and hit him on the back. The attackers later fled the scene. Due to his injury, Dhonde was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. After receiving treatment, he filed a complaint at the Koparkhairane police station on Thursday.

Based on his complaint, the police have filed a case of attempted murder and are looking for the accused. “A dispute over the water supply area was the reason behind the attack. We are yet to arrest the accused,” said Senior Superintendent of Police Audumber PAtil.
