Fatal crash on US-301 kills one, leaves another hospitalized: FHP

A Ridge Manor man died and a DeLand woman was hospitalized after a crash on US-301 early Saturday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Investigators say a 46-year-old woman driving a Ford F-150 was turning left onto US-301 from Ashbrook Rd. when her vehicle collided with the victim’s Kia Sedona.

The 87-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. The woman’s condition is unknown at this time.

FHP is investigating the accident.

Vehicle 1, a Ford F150, driven by a 46-year-old Deland woman, was westbound on Ashbrook Road. Vehicle 2, a Kia Sedona, driven by an 87-year-old Ridge Manor man, was northbound on US-301. At the intersection of the two roads, Vehicle 1 veered left onto the roadway and was struck by Vehicle 2. Both drivers sustained injuries during the collision, and both were transported to area hospitals. Driver 2 later expired from injuries sustained during the crash.
