Salem police arrested suspect in string of burglaries

SALEM — A man suspected in a string of burglaries in two states has been arrested after a thorough investigation by local authorities.

The Salem Police Department announced the arrest of Andrew Mcinnis, 40, of Hampton, in connection with a burglary that occurred at Ralphie’s Café Italian on November 25th.

Patrol units were dispatched to the cafe around 3:58 a.m. after an alarm was raised.

Upon arrival, they discovered a broken front door and various stolen items.

Surveillance footage from the cafe and the adjacent Patriot Nissan dealership helped Det.

Harvey of the Salem Police Department to identify a Hyundai Kona with distinctive markings, linking it to the crime scene.

The same vehicle was later found abandoned in Derry, NH, following another burglary and car theft, which led to Mcinnis’ arrest by Massachusetts State Police at the end of a pursuit.

A search warrant executed on the Hyundai Kona turned up evidence of the Salem theft.

McInnis was also matched to boot prints found on the window of Ralphie’s Café and to other burglary scenes, including one in Tewksbury, Mass.

Mcinnis faces charges of burglary and criminal mischief, both felonies.

He was picked up by Hampton police on the Salem warrant and transferred to their custody on December 8.

Authorities in Lowell and Newton, Massachusetts, were also notified of Mcinnis’ potential involvement in additional burglaries.
