A woman has died after accidentally shooting herself at a gas station

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The San Marcos Police Department is investigating an accidental shooting that left a woman dead Friday, the agency said on social media.

Around 4 p.m., SMPD said they were actively investigating the shooting that happened at a gas station near Redwood Road and Highway 123.

A department spokesperson told KXAN the woman was with her child at the time of the shooting. Police said there is no threat to the public.

The shooting remained under investigation Friday by police.
