The DuPage County Sheriff will suspend evacuations during the holiday season

DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. — DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick announced Wednesday that countywide evacuations will be suspended for part of the holiday season.

According to Mendrick, evacuations in DuPage County will be suspended from Saturday 21 December 2024 to Monday 6 January 2025.

Mendrick said the decision to hold off on evacuations was made so families could be assured they would be able to stay together until the holidays.

“This short-term suspension of evacuations will allow families to be assured that they will be able to stay in their homes and with their families during the holiday season,” Mendrick said.

Mendrick advised anyone needing assistance with housing or evacuations to call 211 for details on DuPage Pads or for available heating places.
