On Monday, KCPD announced that the victims were identified as 17-year-old Cierra Pennington and 19-year-old Deontae Marchbanks.

KCTV5 spoke with several residents and neighbors of the apartment complex who say they have been calling for help in the area for years. Deborah Hall lives across the street and said her home was hit by gunfire.

“This was a very nice complex across the street and now it’s been treated like we don’t care about the people who live there,” Hall said.

KCPD confirmed 49 calls for service were made to the apartment this year alone.
