The vehicle crashes amid the fury of the burglaries; QPD warns of increase in burglaries on Quincy’s south side

The Quincy Police Department found a wrecked car with suspected stolen items, coinciding with an increase in burglaries on Quincy’s south side. QPD urges Quincy residents to use caution and lock their vehicles.

Between Monday night and Tuesday morning, QPD investigated approximately 15 reports of theft from motor vehicles and four reports of stolen vehicles.

Many of these incidents occurred on the south side of Quincy. Most of the vehicles were unlocked and the stolen vehicles had the keys left in them.

Around that time, officers observed a suspicious vehicle speeding near 8th and State and later found it crashed and unoccupied at State and Gardner Expressway.

Numerous objects that are suspected of being stolen were found with the car.

Quincy Police urge the prevention of these crimes by practicing vehicle safety:

  • Lock your vehicle and remove the keys.
  • Secure your vehicle and residence to deter criminal activity.
  • Turn on the exterior lights.
  • Call 911 immediately if you see suspicious activity, especially at night.
