Son kills mother over money in shocking incident in Lucknow | Lucknow News

Lucknow: A 20-year-old youth along with his accomplice brutally killed his mother by strangling her with a muffler. Police arrested both the accused on Wednesday.
The incident took place on Friday when 45-year-old Prema Devi went to the fields to guard her tomato crops. The next day, her body was found floating in a drain. A post-mortem examination confirmed that she had been strangled to death. Her elder son Dilip Kumar lodged a complaint with the Nagaram police.
Police investigation revealed that the younger son, Akash Kumar, was an alcoholic. His wife left him because of his behavior and his mother tried to get him a divorce. In addition, Akash demanded money from his mother for alcohol, which she refused to give him, the police said.
South zone DCP Keshav Kumar said the investigation revealed that Akash conspired with his friend Suleman Hussain to kill his mother. “Akash found her working in the fields and an argument ensued when she refused to reconcile with his wife and even his request for money was rejected by her. In a fit of rage, Akash and Suleman strangled Prema with a muffler.” Kumar said.
To mislead the police and make it look like a robbery or rape, they removed her jewellery, including a ring, necklace and anklets, and turned her clothes around. They also turned off his cell phone before dumping his body down the drain.
Later, the police tracked them down and found the stolen jewelry and mobile phone. The call detail recordings showed that after the murder, the accused called his wife for reconciliation, taking her mother’s name, which acted as evidence. Police said Prema had properties in her name given by her husband Sant Ram, but Akash was not given any share due to his alcoholism.
