This is the self-confessed pedophile who faces up to 10 years in prison after admitting to sexually abusing a young woman.

On the second day of his trial at Antrim Crown Court, Matthew McSeveney admitted sexual assault and single charges of engaging in a sexual activity in the presence of a child and causing a child to watch a sexual act on an unknown date between March 1 and September 30, 2022.

Following the confessions made by the 33-year-old from Drumadragh in Coleraine, prosecutor Mark Farrell offered no further evidence on five remaining charges, including three counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and two counts of cause a child to look. a sexual act.

When Mr Farrell opened the Crown case on Monday, he told the jury how the 10-year-old victim was in McSeveney’s home when a “sexualised conversation” began.

First he told about the game of “truth or dare”, then he started “telling her about how babies are made and told her not to tell her parents about it and that this conversation will get them into trouble”.

The pervert later simulated sex with a bottle.

“He told her that’s how sex is and then he pulled his pants back up,” Mr Farrell said.

The jury heard that on another occasion the girl was playing a video game when McSeveney showed her a video he was watching on his mobile phone of a woman performing a sexual act on a man.

The prosecution lawyer told the jury that the last allegation of sexual assault was when the girl was at McSeveney’s house and had just got out of the shower, “he picked her up and wrapped her legs around his waist”.

After McSeveney pleaded guilty on Tuesday, defense counsel KC Neil Connor asked for sentencing to be delayed to allow the Probation Board time to prepare a pre-sentence report.

While Judge Fiona Bagnall released McSeveney on bail until she passes sentence on February 10, she ordered the madman to sign the police sex offenders’ register.
