Singer KG is suing JYP Entertainment for abuse and mistreatment

KG (KG Crown), a member of the global girl group VCHA under JYP Entertainment, has filed a lawsuit to terminate her contract with the agency, citing incidents of abuse, mistreatment and unpleasant working conditions. The announcement, made on December 8, led to growing concerns in the music industry about the treatment of idols.

In a 77-page lawsuit, 17-year-old KG expressed his struggles within the system, highlighting several critical issues, including an alleged suicide attempt by a member forced by unhealthy working conditions that led to -o to the development of an eating disorder. She claimed the incident was dismissed by the company as food poisoning. The incident occurred in February 2024, a month after the group promoted globally.

“Yesterday, I filed a lawsuit because I decided to terminate my contract with JYP Entertainment and leave VCHA after experiencing incidents of abuse and mistreatment from certain staff members. I feel it was not a good environment for my mental health and I apologize if my departure disappoints any of you,” KG said.

KG emphasized her deep concern for the well-being of her colleagues, citing distressing working conditions that had serious consequences: “I am not in support of working and living conditions that led a member to attempt suicide. Nor do I support an environment that encourages eating disorders and leads members to self-harm.”

She said she suffered mistreatment from certain staff members and criticized the agency’s lack of concern when members raised complaints. KG mentioned that she was ridiculed by her staff in front of other members, which eventually left her upset.

KG expressed that the decision to leave the VCHA and terminate his contract was not taken lightly, and he feels it is essential to speak out about the difficult conditions idols in the industry face.

Reflecting on her experiences, she noted that her decision came from the realization that she could not become the artist she aspired to be by remaining in an unhealthy environment. “I also realized that if I stay at JYP Entertainment, I wouldn’t be able to become the artist I aspire to be because I really enjoy writing and producing songs. We racked up a massive amount of company debt while being paid very little for the intense work and extreme limitations of our personal lives,” KG detailed.

Despite the challenges, she acknowledged the positive moments she experienced during her time at VCHA, thanking JY Park and the directors for believing in her talent and the exceptional training she received. “Although there were such incidents, there were also beautiful moments,” she noted.

KG expressed his love and concern for his colleagues and hope for their well-being. She reiterated her commitment to creating music in the K-pop genre, albeit under more favorable conditions, “I hope my leave can encourage the K-Pop system to make changes for the better in hopes of protecting the idols and trainees who remain. in the hands of these companies.”

JYP Entertainment confirmed that it has yet to receive the official lawsuit, but acknowledged “differences of opinion” and previous discussions with KG’s representatives. The company said it plans to resolve the matter through appropriate legal channels.

Speculation about the member affected by the suicide attempt points to Kaylee, who has been on hiatus since March 2024.

Since this was announced, KG has received a lot of support from fans around the world. Hashtags like We Love You KG, Always With KG went viral.
