Woman allegedly threatens people with knife and steals sleeping bag in Portland Lloyd District

PORTLAND Hours. (KPTV) – A woman is facing charges after allegedly stealing a sleeping bag while armed with a knife early Saturday morning in the Portland Lloyd District, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

Around 11 a.m., police responded to a stabbing call at North Williams Avenue and Northeast Multnomah Street, but were told the victim had left the area by the time they arrived.

When police began searching the area, two people who were camping in the area before a concert said a woman matching the suspect’s description threatened them with a knife and demanded a sleeping bag.

After a short search, police found and arrested Angelique Butler, 52, of Portland. Police said they found the stolen sleeping bag as well as a large knife in her possession.

However, police were unable to locate the alleged stabbing victim, who witnesses said was a man.

Butler was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of second-degree robbery, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and second-degree disorderly conduct.
