The former teacher from St. Helens, Collins accused of sex abuse can see grandchildren, judge says

A judge on Tuesday approved a motion to allow a former St. Helens high school teacher facing sexual abuse allegations to see his grandchildren, with certain conditions.

Mark Collins will only be able to see them under the supervision of the children’s parents and only at their homes.

Parents must be in the same room and watching him all the time.

While in court, the state said it anticipates more charges against Collins soon.

Collins’ defense attorney said that in his decades of trial, he had never seen charges “more ambiguous” than this case.

Collins, 64, he is accused of sexually abusing students while he was a teacher at St. Helens.

A current teacher, Eric Stearns, 46, he was also arrested and accused of sexually abusing students at school.

Both men have pleaded not guilty to the charges.
