Two Defendants Convicted in Washoe Spree County

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Two people, Jacob Cooper and Aisha Bailey, have been sentenced to prison after their involvement in a string of residential burglaries in Washoe County. The Washoe County Prosecutor’s Office made the announcement Monday.

Cooper received an 80-year sentence with the possibility of parole after 27 years. Bailey received a 48-year sentence with the possibility of parole after 14 years.

Detectives linked the defendants to a string of six incidents through evidence and surveillance footage. Several firearms, cash and jewelry were taken during the burglary.

The crimes took place between December 2022 and February 2023.

On February 13, 2023, Sparks Police detectives observed a vehicle with stolen license plates that Cooper was known to drive parked near a casino. Detectives found Cooper inside the casino and arrested him. While searching the car, officers found a gun that had been stolen from one of the victims. A further search of Cooper and Bailey’s motel room and storage unit turned up several items stolen from the burglary victims. Bailey was later arrested behind the wheel of one of the victim’s stolen cars.

Cooper was convicted by a jury on all charges, which include: 3 counts of residential burglary while in possession of a firearm, 3 counts of residential burglary, 2 counts of Possession of a weapon of stolen firearms, 2 counts Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglary Tools and Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm. He was fined $20,000.

Bailey pleaded guilty to 3 counts of residential burglary while in possession of a firearm, 3 counts of residential burglary, 2 counts of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance , Possession of a Stolen Car, Trafficking in a Schedule I Controlled Substance, Possession of Burglary Tools and Being a Felon in Possession of a Weapon of fire. He was fined $40,000.

Both are to pay $156,716 in restitution.
