A 35-year-old government employee committed suicide in the Tehsildar’s office

Belagavi News: A 35-year-old government employee, identified as Rudaranna Yadavanna, was found dead by suicide in the Tehsildar office in Belagavi on Tuesday. Yadavanna, who served as Second Division Assistant (SDA), was found hanging in the Tehsildar’s room, prompting a detailed police investigation to find out the circumstances leading to his death.

A senior police official said their team was alerted when a body was found hanging in the office using a veil. Authorities are currently looking into potential causes behind Yadavanna’s death, including allegations of workplace harassment or wrongdoing, according to a PTI report. Police are working closely with the Forensic Science Laboratory, who will carry out a thorough examination of the scene, while CCTV footage from the office premises is being analyzed for any leads.

The investigation took a significant turn after reports emerged that Yadavanna had sent a message to a staff WhatsApp group shortly before his death where he named two people he believed responsible for his plight, as reported IANS. In the message, he allegedly mentioned that he had suffered injustices in the office and urged his colleagues to oppose the “injustice” he had faced.

The incident sparked political controversy, with BJP leaders in Karnataka demanding the resignation of the minister in charge of the department, citing lack of accountability and insufficient workplace protection.

Yadavanna, who had recently been transferred to Belagavi, worked alongside his wife, who is employed as a village accountant in the same office. Khadebazar police have registered the case and are continuing the investigation based on the statements of family members and colleagues.
