Person killed along Baptist road, being investigated as road homicide

MONUMENT – One person is dead following a hit and run Monday morning, according to Monument Police.

Police said they were called to a hit-and-run accident around 11:45 a.m. Monday along Baptist Road.

When police arrived, they found a woman dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office says it is investigating the incident as a vehicular homicide.

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect is an adult male driving a dark-colored Chrysler minivan with a light-colored horizontal metal strip on the side. A woman is said to have been in the passenger seat of the van.

The sheriff’s office says the van did not have a front license plate, but did have stock silver rims and damage to the front and side passenger bumper. They say it may have been a white handicapped placard hanging from the front rearview mirror.

According to the sheriff’s office, the van may have red paint marks on the front passenger side of the vehicle.
