Phoenix hits another record; expect a new record on Saturday

PHOENIX (AZ Family) — A new record was set this Friday to cap off a warmer-than-average week here in October.

Phoenix reached 97 degrees just after 2 p.m. to break the old record of 96 degrees in 1990 and 2014.

Expect record heat again on Saturday as this ridge of high pressure continues to dominate the forecast through Sunday.

The only thing keeping us below 100 degrees will be clouds from the breakup of Hurricane Kristy coming in from the west.

Winds will begin to pick up Sunday and Monday across the state as we move into a new weather pattern.

After highs still in the 90s on Monday, a major low pressure system and cold front will drop our highs into the upper 70s on Tuesday and Wednesday as the cold front passes.

Expect windy conditions here in the valley along that front.

Halloween highs look to be around 80 degrees, with cool temperatures in the 70s and 60s Thursday night.

Snow levels in northern Arizona are still slightly higher. Tuesday has the best chance of rain and then snow.
